Well maintained by the authorities. Had varieties of aquarium fishes. U can buy fishes too. Should have more varieties of cichlid species... 🙏🙏

This is a research centre of freshwater fishes encompassing studies of different types such as genetic studies , embryological studies etc. regarding fresh water fishes. They have an aquarium showing different kinds of fishes. Only one camera is allowed to be taken inside to click photos. CIFA also has their fish feed mill where fish food is prepared. There are large number of fish breeding centres where fishes are grown for studying or other purposes. CIFA has developed their very own pilot scale Nutrient Film Aquaponic system in which, the fish wastes are used to grown plants in water such as marigold , gourd etc. Altogether this place is very attractive to both biologists and common people where both can take a sip of admiration.

No proper way to go...they are also not interested to show the people... what ever once i went that place and security guard returned me... saying that i can't go there..so don't waste ur time if you have to travel long distance to go there..

I'm going to describe the whole theory here. Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (CIFA), formerly the Freshwater Aquaculture Research and Training Centre, is an advanced research institute for freshwater aquaculture, established in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. It was founded in 1987 by the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), New Delhi. Its genesis lies in the Pond Culture Division of Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute (CIFRI), Cuttack which started the training center at Kausalyaganga, on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar for Developing and Training on Inland Fishery. Central Inland Fisheries Research Institute (CIFRI) is an autonomous research institute dedicated to basic research in fishery science under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research of Government of India. It is located in Barrackpore, Kolkata, West Bengal. This institute was established in 1947. ICAR-Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture a premier research institute in freshwater aquaculture in the country observed 32nd Annual Day at its Kausalyaganga campus on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar today. Prof. Suddhasatwa Basu, Director, CSIR-Institute of Minerals and Materials Technology, Bhubaneswar, Chief Guest gave away ICAR-CIFA annual awards. Dr. C. Gopal, Member Secretary, Coastal Aquaculture Authority, Chennai attended the function as Special guest. Shri Sanjib Chandra Hota, IAS (Retd.), Former State Election Commissioner and Member Board of Revenue, Odisha, Bhubaneswar was the Chief Speaker on the occasion and felicitated few retired employees for their contribution. ICAR-CIFA began its journey as an independent institute under the administrative control of Indian Council of Agricultural Research, New Delhi on this very day in 1987. During last three decades it has contributed immensely towards growth and development of the freshwater aquaculture sector. Thank you!
