Maharaj Bagh Zoo

Beautiful green pocket in Nagpur, this place is a small zoo. It has various tall forest trees and species of medicinal value. Also, it has a rich variety of birds. It is the home of large flocks of Rose ringed Parakeet. You can see tiger, leopard, crocodiles in enclosures here. It's a great spot for bird watching.

Please note the zoo is closed right now due to Coronavirus restrictions (see picture from Sunday, 06 Dec 2020). As per the guard at the gate, the Zoo might only open from Jan 2021. About the zoo itself, it's a nice little spot of nature in the heart of Nagpur. Might be a bit small but is pretty decent and has a good variety of birds and animals. Overall, it's well-maintained too. There's also a kids' play area if you're visiting with kids. There's a cafeteria at the entrance but allow you to carry your own food (but please do not tease or feed the animals!). My review is from a visit in Feb 2020.

Best Time To Visit:- Maharajbagh Zoo is a huge crowd puller. It never fails to catch the attention of visitors and thus, witness a huge footfall throughout the year. Therefore, it can be visited during any season of the year. However, it is recommended that the visit should be made during October-March as the pleasant weather makes it feasible for all to see the animals. Reaching There:- With a wider connectivity of the roadways, it is convenient to reach the zoo by hiring the service of the local buses and taxis. Beautiful place to visit with family.But zoo administration should maintain cleanliness.Fowl smell can be observed.
