Idukki Dam

Nice dam the top view is very beautiful. I think the dam isn't open all time. Mobile phones are not allowed here because of safety issues. Also top of the dam we can see a cave view. Arch dam is so beautiful

The Idukki Dam is a double curvature Arch dam constructed across the Periyar River in a narrow gorge between two granite hills locally known as Kuravan and Kurathi hills in Kerala, India. it is one of the highest arch dams in Asia. It is constructed and owned by the Kerala State Electricity Board. It supports a 780 MW hydroelectric power station in Moolamattom, which started generating power on 4 October 1975. The dam type is a concrete, double curvature parabolic, thin arc dam... but we can't enter into the dam with camera, mobile phones, camcorder..etc... they are not allowing photos inside the dam.

Actually the tourists who visit the dam are not guided properly.The direction boards are shown somewhere and the entrance is somewhere else. It's very confusing but it's awesome to see the wonderful architecture built in between two mountains
