Beautiful ancient temple. The murti of channakeshava is very beautiful. The story of the shilpi is good to hear but I don't think he used hammer and chisels to make this murti. The technology is not known to us. This murti is similar to the Belur channakeshava since it's made by the same shilpi.

Sri Channakeshava Temple, Turuvekere was built around 1263 A.D. during the rule of the Hoysala Empire King Narasimha III. This temple is a protected monument under Archaeological Survey of India..Though a small temple, it is an architectural beauty with very intricate carvings. One must have darshan of this ancient temple.

An awesome place but not properly maintained.nThis kind of historical places has to be developed and be open to public. Many people who live in the same place don't know about the place.

This temple is dedicated to lord channakeshava. This temple was built in 12th century AD by Somanna, who was a general on the court of Hoysala king Narasimha the third.nGranite is used for the outer walls hence there are no much intricate carvings, however one can see hoysala styled circular lathe carved pillers at the inner sanctum. Temple is very small and poorly maintained due to lack.of visitors and Govt funding.nTemple is closed most of the time, better to call the priest, whose number is pasted on the door.
