Devi Jagadambi Temple Khajuraho

Unique architect of this Temple. This is dedicated to Goddess Jagadamba.

The temples of Khajuraho, whose excellent architecture and sculpture are world famous and this world heritage attracts tourists to visit again and again, the pleasure of visiting Khajuraho proves to be fresh and interesting. Jagdambi temple is one attraction situated in the Western Group of temples.nnIt's situated on the same platform on which the Grand Kandhariya Mahadev is built. It's located towards the North of Kandhariya Mahadev. It was built probably during the reign of Vidyadhara in 1000 to 1025 AD though it's a subject of Archaeological Research that few historians have opinion that it was built after the Kandhariya Mahadev. It was dedicated to Lord Vishnu as the clear signs are still available at the entrance of the sanctum Sanctorum. Interior is spectacular and the sanctum Sanctorum houses the image of Goddess Kali as it was assigned to Goddess Parvati so known as Jagdambi temple. It doesn't have the inner circumambulatory though balconied windows with stone balustrades. Craftsmanship is much better and it's facing to the East. Outer walls are having the images or Sculptures of Lord Vishnu and his various incarnations along with his consorts. Panels and niches are housing the magnificent sculptures including the erotic sculptures and animals. It also displays the bravery of Chandela Rulers in the form of depiction as man fighting with the Lion. It's roof is decorated with towers entrance porch, hall, great hall, windows are crowned with the tiered spires their height and peaks are having a gradual rise. Tallest tower is above the sanctum Sanctorum whose peak is having two notched stone discs and crowned with Kalash. Sand stone is used in the whole construction.nnAn hour of time is necessary to understand architecture and sculpture closely. Nearest attractions are Kandhariya Mahadev and Chitragupt Temples. It's a major attraction among the history buffs wanderers soulseekers heritage culture art and architecture lovers.

The 2nd Complex Houses Two Temples. One is Kandariya Temple another is this Devi Jagadambi Temple. This temple is named after enshrined image of Goddess Parvati in the Garbha Gruha, Sanctum which was originally Dedicated to Lord Vishnu.

Dedicated to Parvati this is another temple similar like other Khajuraho temples. Although temple is dedicated to Parvati but Vishnu idol is centre of attraction.
