It is one of the architectural marvels stands upright even after 800 years. Those who are interested in temple architecture must pay a visit. It is Kadamba rulers masterpiece.

This is one of the wonderful temples built during kalyana chalukyas of 12th century and a hidden gem from the architecture and sculpture perspective.though there are many entrances, the front side three entrances along with lengthy corridor to the sanctum is similar to veera narayana temple in belavadi. The front side three entrances are beautiful with wonderful designs along with small sculpture which is damaged now.From the entrance to the sanctum the corridor is supported with unique style stone carved pillars with simple designs.the meeting point of the front three entrances has a beautiful and majestic lotus bud chandelier with impressive designs on the ceiling along with sculpture of deities sitting on animals above the pillars which is best part of this temple.inner hall before the sanctum is unique with hoysala lathe pillars that has small sculpture at the base covering saraswathi, bairava, durga,vishnu, rama,narasimha which is lively after centuries of time.sanctum door is simple window style for the passage of sunlight and lingam is medium sized phallic form.outer side of the sanctum tower is beautiful with grand royal designs along with small sculpture on the top and base is simple with temple tower designs.small sculpture from the stories of ramayana across all the entrances is graceful though the faces are mutilated badly.

The Tarakeshwara Temple is one the oldest temples of Indian history. It was built in 9th Century by "Jhakanacharya" in only one night.
