Though there is no official record of formation of Sibsagar Bar Association, from the leaves of history and some of  the bygone senior advocates it is belived that present Bar Association was formed around first two decades of the last century. Since then many stalwarts of law have come and gone from sibsagar bar.The members of the Bar had the privilege of serving the people both in legal and public field. Girindra Nath Gogoi, Pronob Gogoi, Ananda ch. Bezbaruah, Prafulla ch. Bezbaruah, Amulya Barua to name a few among them. It is learnt that the founder principals of the Sibsagar College, Sibsagar Girls’ College and Sibsagar Law College, Late Padmadhar Chaliha, Late Tokheswar Dutta and Late Amritlal Gohain respectively were all members of Sibsagar Bar. I love this bar association as it is the back bone of my professional career as an advocate. At present more than 400 members are enrolled as advocates in sibsagar bar association. Every year new members are enrolled as advocates in sibsagar bar association. Annual functions are organised in sibsagar bar association to upheld the integrity and unity of the members of the Bar. As on 3/1/2019 Sri Diganta Mangal Neog is holding the prestigious position of General Secretary of Sibsagar Bar Association.
