Museum and shop are worth a visit! We had a free tour and tasting for the two of us only. Interesting history of Balsamico production. You do not feel forced to buy anything after the tour, but just want to because it tastes so good!
This ancient Acetaia is incredibly fascinating and tells a piece of history of Modena and its traditions. You will able to understand how balsamic vinegar is made and how much dedication it takes.
You'll be able to taste the balsamic vinegar as well, understanding the difference between all of them.
Great balsamico place. beautiful surroundings and the staff really know their stuff and look after visitors. we bought a lot of bottles to take home with us!
Due to COVID-19 the acetaia was completely empty. Sadly, we didn’t have time to visit the museum but our spontaneous private tour of the ageing rooms by one of the staff members (thank you to the lovely lady who spoke English and German) was fascinating and a perfect introduction to the balsamico tasting afterwards. They were all so amazingly good, even my husband understood the “need” for it and enjoyed it. Apart from the “classic” balsamico, I can highly recommend the Condimento Bianco and the Condimento a base di Aceto Balsamico (the truffle and the raspberry one 👌🏼👌🏼).
Amazing experience! I’ve been waiting to visit the oldest balsamic vinegar maker in the world for 4 years. The visit is free and includes a tasting session of all their products. Booking (on their website) is highly recommended. The vinegars are way cheaper to buy there rather than other shops. Emanuela has been a wonderful guide. The visit is on itself worth the trip to Modena.
