The view of the city is great from near the observatory. Unfortunately the observatory was closed but the panoramic view is worth the travel. We trekked from the city center to the top, but I suggest that you take the funicular which takes you next to the observatory for just €1.8 (100 minutes ticket).

While visiting cemeteries of Genova, I hiked up to and past the Observatory. Enjoyed looking at the scale model of our Solar System.
