Famous because of the falls is best visited during spring or in winter for ski mountaners because it's easy.

An excursion suitable for those who are a little trained. You have to walk from 6 to 8 hours but if this is not a problem then only the spectacular atmosphere remains, the variety of environments crossed, the goodness of the spring waters.

The ascent to Gorzano from the Sacred Heart is very well signposted and not very busy. It offers a remarkable view towards the west, up to Terminillo, and towards the south, over part of the lake of Campotosto, up to the Gran Sasso group.

I recommend the ascent from the Amatrice side. You get to Capricchia (hamlet of Amatrice 1100 meters above sea level) and from there you continue by car to the Sacred Heart. You can leave the car and start walking. The road to get to the Sacred Heart is paved a little ruined but you can safely get in the car. The trail is well marked and there are indications to reach the summit. Part of the route passes through the woods. You arrive almost immediately (30 minutes) to Selva Grande where there is a spring. I was there last August 18th and the climb time was about 2 hours 30 minutes with a few stops. We left at 8 and 20 and at 13 and 30 we had already returned. As you climb, you can enjoy a wonderful view of the Amatrician basin and the various hamlets of Amatrice (Capricchia, Preta, Trione, etc.). You can see Lake Campotosto and Lake Scandarello. From the summit and weather permitting, you can see the sea and the Gran Sasso mountain range. On the top there is a cross with a plate (see photo!).
