Castello di Bosses

The castle, with the typical massive square plan of the first Valle d'Aosta strongholds, dates back to the 12th century when it was built by the Bosses (de Bocha) family who had received these lands as a fief from the family of the Quart lords. At the end of the thirteenth century the Bosses family came into conflict with the Counts of Savoy and after some disputes in 1288 Giacomino di Bosses was forced to become a vassal of the Savoy, giving them the castle and the fief of Bosses. Under the patronage of the Region, in 1998 a restoration of the building was begun, which ended in 1999 which brought back to the furnishing of some modern-style rooms for conferences, exhibitions and events. The castle externally looks from the fifteenth century, while the interior, which could not be restored, is completely renovated and rebuilt for museum use.

It is used for markets and therefore exploited to the fullest. Outside maintains the look of a princess castle and inside has been modernized very well. Andateci😉

Very very nice, the market inside full of wonderful objects 🥰 Unique and characteristic pieces of craftsmanship, if I had money to throw I would certainly have taken some objects! I leave my heart ... but with the intention of returning!

A small toll booth in the heart of the Alps; the Christmas market inside is very nice and characteristic.

Small village very typical of mountain. Beautiful view of the torrent either at the bottom or at the top of the village. And then up the sale of the famous ham of Bosses (Aosta)! More than one manufacturer ... a pity
