Excellent monument of medieval culture and architecture. There are wonderful frescoes of XIII century inside. Visitors are allowed to take non commercial photo without flash light.

A beautiful old city (although quite overrun with tourists these days). The highlight, of course, is the collection of remaining towers. Make sure you see them from a distance before you arrive - it will help you appreciate the layout of the city. Also, don't forget to enjoy the views across the countryside from San Gimignano.

A beautiful medieval city! Teleports you to a few centuries back. Definitely worth a visit if you're near Siena

This city is beautiful. It's to bad we had so little time to spend here. We may come back!

San Gimignano in the Hellenistic period III-II century BC it was the seat of a small Etruscan village. Its history begins around the 10th century when it takes the name of the Holy Bishop of Modena who in the 6th century would have saved the village from the hordes of Totila. It had great development during the Middle Ages thanks to the Via Francigena that crossed it and to an extraordinary flowering of works of art that adorned Pakazzi Churches and Convents. Of the 72 medieval towers only 14 remain. An open-air museum. A small jewel immersed in a surreal peace ..... every corner is pure history. Unmissable
