This is a very beautiful monument to the poet, writer and philosopher Virgil who was believed to have lived in Brindisi 19c B.C. The material is the finest Carrara marble and depicts the themes of good and evil , victory and suffering. Fundamentally though I think it is a symbol of peace depicting a sheep and an olive branch?

Allocated in the mythical "gardens" of the port (or of the captaincy) as I have known since I was a child, it is among the first attractions (surely in line with the monument to the Sailor and the Roman columns) at the sight of passengers just landed from the ships .
