We had a fantastic tour and excellent explanation (in Italian) of the history of the castle by a volunteer who was very passionate about the details and the life of Matilde Di Canossa. I don’t know about information in English as we both speak Italian, however I highly recommend it.

Great views, worth the drive. Castle ruin. Advised to visit on the weekend to pair with the other nearby castle

Astonishing history. Little remains intact from that era apart from the outer walls but easily imagined and nicely highlighted by the museum in the castle and the knowledgeable staff at the museum and ticket office.
