Isolotto del Clapat

Between the bridges of Pinzano and Braulins, we find the islet of the Clapat that connects the two shores of the Tagliamento with a secondary artery and a railway line. In the Great War, after the breakthrough of the Italian front in Caporetto (Conca di Plezzo 24 - 25 October 1917), it was precisely in this place that the Italian departments of the Genoa and Syracuse Brigades were established to defend the retreating Italian rearguards. After furious fighting (2-3-4 November 1917), the Bosnian departments managed to pass. The battle of the Clapat, with the Battle of the bridgehead of Ragogna / Pinzano (with the sacrifice of the Bologna Brigade) was necessary to slow down (crash battles) the AU Divisions that were urging the retreat of the Italian troops to the Piave; these places were called "the second Caporetto".
