Villa dei Mosaici di Spello

Wonderful archeological find in Spello. The remains of a large Roman Villa with amazing mosaics and projections of how each room would have looked. Definitely download the app beforehand for added information.

The 1 star is for the museum opening time. 😱😱 On Saturday 1st of June: closing time between 1 and 3 pm!!!! If you go at 12.35 you can’t get in; ticket must be purchased 30 minutes before for a museum that needs 10 minutes to be appreciated! This is the proof Italy doesn’t know how to sell its artistic patrimony!

Great little museum.

Interesting mosaics and good information on posted signs. I felt it was a bit expensive for the experience provided.

Great exhibition with videos showing how the rooms of this Roman villa might have looked. They provide a comprehensive explanation of how the rooms were used plus a timeline comparing Umbrian, Etruscan, Roman and Spello’s development. Very interesting giving insight to daily life.
