Roman Amphitheater

Worth a visit especially for the guide who explains in a very particular way the history of the Middle Ages and brings it back to our times

A wealth ..... and a page of history .... of the Splendidissima Colonia Jiulia ..... if brought back to the splendor of the Roman period .... .Oggi unfortunately is no longer accessible because closed and in bad state of conservation ..... if properly restored ..... a new wealth for Spello and Umbria as a whole

Beautiful suggestive place to visit

The Amphitheater represents what remains of a monumental complex consisting of a temple (now Villa Fidelia), a Roman theater (destroyed) and an amphitheater. The structure was about 16 meters high, in two orders. The rescript of Constantine mentions the ludi gladiators that were performed here, in conjunction with the sacred rites that were instead officiated in the temple. The amphitheater for now is invaded by weeds and vegetation that completely prevent understanding.

Too bad that it was covered with vegetation and inaccessible it should be restored and 'a piece that would fit well into the historical cultural account of Spello sin really leave it so ...
