From the earliest communication until we left, everything was outstanding. We were wanting to experience real Sicilian life and we found the right combination in this Sicilian mountain oasis. The quiet times were so quiet, we did not realize how loud our Florida neighborhood was, until we spent time here and heard bees, sheep bells in the distance, dogs, cows mooing in the distance. We sat outside and enjoyed wine and reading and the beauty of the ageless property and garden. We did not take cooking classes although I would have like to, but we needed to leave that for another time because I planned other things for my husbands birthday. However, we did take advantage of the optional traditional meals cooked for us by Nino and Dina and that was one of the best holiday experiences of our lives. We had leftovers for days, enjoying over and over. The cottage is so comfortable, the shutters were antique and so functional...we never locked the door any of the 5 days we were there, but at night we just closed and locked the shutters. Francesco gave us so much information about places to go, everything we needed. But, in reality, we just really wanted to spend time in and around the cottage. I said we wanted to experience Sicilian life, and we did except, we did not work as hard as this family works to maintain this spectacular property...we only had to enjoy the fruits of their labor, the peace and beauty and walk into the cottage to find a fully authentic Sicilian meal warm and ready on the table. We are in awe of the hospitality of this lovely family and lovely island. We will never forget this piece of paradise. Thank you Nino and Dina, Francesco and Catarina.
Had the best time ever here! The location was so beautiful and the cooking class was AMAZING! This family is the best company we could wish for! The food was sooooo good and having diner together with Nino and Dina made it even better! Will definitely come back in the future!
I cannot say enough good things about this place!! Nino and Dina are fantastic hosts and make you feel right at home. Their cottage is spacious, comfortable, and charming with thoughtful touches throughout. You can tell how much time and care is put into managing their property and the grounds, which are just gorgeous! The immediate area is perfect for walks surrounded by lush green hillsides and occasional herds of sheep. My husband and I also did a cooking class with this couple, which we highly recommend! It is a perfect way to slow down and immerse yourself in Sicilian culture while enjoying delicious food and wine. Our time in Nicosia is one of our cherished memories and we hope to return someday. Thank you to dear Nino and Dina and family!
Loved the place, highly recommended, make sure to arrive during daylight so you won't get Lost
First things first - amazing place, even more amazing hosts.
While the house itself is surrounded by the hosts' relatives' houses(and when I say surrounded, I mean within 100 meters of), there's no one to disturb the silence and peace - unless you want them to.
The garden is well-maintained, and the sunsets are beautiful.
The fireplace - oh, how much I loved the fireplace.
I would sit in the armchair in front of the fireplace and tend the flames all day long. (There are logs available and stacked, all readied by the hosts. And by the way, I'm sorry for using so many logs, Dina & Nino.)
I still day-dream about it, even though it has been around 10 months since I left this place.
The cooking classes with Nino and Dina was always fun and tasty(even though I cried my eyes out every time because of the smoke from the 100-year-old stove), and the breads I made were... delicious.(I would give it a 7/10, but Dina said it was good, so I guess that's that.)
Long story short, I loved this place to the bottom of my heart, and I will return if I have the chance to.
With love,
Kim
