Great place and good museum. Tour guide was insightful and added to the experience. Would recommend if in the area.

Definitely worth a visit, the Castle of Venafro, official name of the National Museum of Castello Pandone, one of the best preserved examples of a medieval castle and, above all, very well preserved.
The castle takes its name from one of the families who built it, the first, the Pandone. In particular, Enrico Pandone was responsible for the cycle of the frescoes of the horses, which the count loved to breed, an ante litteram photo album. Notice the definition of the details ... saddles, bits, harnesses.
Then there is a floor, recently renovated, where the National Museum of Molise is located. Frescoes, statues, drawings and prints ranging from the Middle Ages to the Baroque, (I think) by artists or clients from Molise. The set-up is very nice and fresh.
It costs 5 euros to enter ... actually 4 + 1 euros for the combined ticket with another complex which, however, I was unable to see. Ah if you can plan ahead ... get informed, there was a beautiful workshop for the children (but obviously it had to be booked)
Very nice, with attention to the restoration of the two large rooms. Unexpected and pleasant surprise memory of the troubled history of Molise made up of betrayals, conspiracies and reconciliations. The past never passed. In addition to the Pandone Castle, the small and well-kept historic village of Venafro is also worth seeing
Venafro, in Molise, a village of wonders: here is the Pandone Castle, a fortress and noble residence, a national museum and ... a stable with its magnificent sixteenth-century horses painted in relief. An authentic rarity to visit.
