The entire surface site of the mine is in very good condition and you can wander around all of it though most buildings are inaccessible. The fascist period art deco buildings are lovely and in very good condition. The old lamp room and miner's dry houses a good museum which has Italian and English descriptions for most exhibits. The 'underground' tour explains most of the processes and machines the miner's used in context, but in some shallow tunnels that have been built to simulate work in the pit (which was at least 250m below).

One of the most majestic mines and top attractions in Sardinia! It took me over 2 hours to see everything! I started the tour visiting the winch room, then I went down the underground gallery where old machinery and the passion put by the guide in his work with his high knowledge and refined language drew my attention so much that he made me identify with the poor men that worked inside. Afterwards I spent around an hour in the upstairs museum (once the lamp room) full of historic relics such as work tools, everyday objects, photos, documents, short clips and interviews with the miners. Finally I went outside to admire very tall wells, impressive machines used to dig into the ground (one resembles amazingly to C. Nolan Batmobile!) and other interesting tools. On top of that there is also a statement made by Mussolini written in the entrance wall of the mine. So if you are in Sulcis area, pay a visit to this museum, you won't be disappointed!

It's incredible how much history there is in this city! They offer a guided tour into the mines suitable also for kids. You can feel in your skin the history of the people that worked here years ago. The staff is well prepared and extremely professional.

Very impressive and our kids liked it as well. We recommend to take the guided tour into the mine which gives you a great insight into the hard life of the coal workers. Good for a stay of 2-3 hours and family friendly.

Covers human, industrial, geographical and political subjects associated to a mine, all in a modern way, with a remaining taste of ... Advice: be perseverant while looking for the ticket office.
