Antico Frantoio di Capo Milazzo

Coming back from a walk from the Piscina di Venere with two friends, the opportunity to visit an excellently preserved 18th century oil mill unexpectedly presents itself. The owners proved to be two wonderful ciceroni explaining to us all that was the production of oil in every phase of the process and above all they made us understand the functions of every single element that are often exhibited in other places totally out of context. Thank you so much for the wonderful visit!

I have visited several museums but the excitement of finding myself in front of an ancient oil press of the 1700s with a Calabrian-style press perfectly preserved in all its parts I had never experienced. I believe one of the few (because of its considerable size) if not the only one in Sicily, to witness a cross-section of the economic reality of Sicily in the 18th century.

The echoes of the past resonate in this beautiful place. One of the owners accompanied me during the visit showing me and telling me that once the mill was a very important economic activity for Milazzo. It was a pleasure to listen to him and I am grateful to him and to his family for having kept such a special place where oil was extracted, a carrier for the Mediterranean diet. It was a nice experience. I also recommend the visit to the little ones who will surely be amazed.

Place with an ancient charm. Well maintained and cared for. A praise to the owners who do their utmost to keep it exclusively with their own possibilities. Excellent initiative to open it to the public to share a slice of history from Milan.

We were headed to boss milazzo ... and by chance we discovered this wonder! An ancient oil mill in Milazzo ... what a surprise ... the very kind owner c has opened and shown this wonder.
