In 2001, the President of the Republic Carlo Azeglio Ciampi attended the presentation of this memorial stone erected on the site where Captain Toni Giuriolo was found, killed by German soldiers on December 12, 1944, while trying to recover the corpses of his fallen comrades. The place is secluded, among the trees there is a pleasant shadow that allows visitors to stop and think about how many sacrifices the absurdity of war can bring.
