During the winter of 1944/45 the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines were cut from the front line, the Gothic Line, as it was called by the German high military command. And on this line the resistance departments were particularly active, protagonists of numerous guerrilla and sabotage actions, provoking the fierce repression by the Nazi-fascists. In the locality of Corona di Querciola died Toni Giuriolo, captain of a resistance department. This monument remembers its sacrifice.
