Beautiful untouched area.

It is fantastic because it is a small forgotten Borgo that looks like a fairy tale. We went there in August and the shouting in the nearby meadows made this feeling even more real. All the houses were open and it seemed normal to be full of people while normally everything is closed. I learned that it is only one person, voluntarily, who takes care of the greenery and above all the beautiful hydrangeas. We didn't have the opportunity to meet him but our esteem and thanks go to this good person for preserving such a precious asset.

It is a vision, it is hardly believed that such a place exists! We arrived there with a nice 5 km walk, leaving the car in Pennola and following the signs for the Sanctuary of the Madonna del Faggio. The route is easy, you could also get there by car but the road is unpaved with large boulders, better take this into account! In any case, it is much better to get there on foot, after a last uphill stretch of 900 meters you can enjoy the show much more! As soon as you arrive, a fountain with very fresh water can relieve you from fatigue. The village is made up of very few houses, all well cared for and an infinity of hydrangeas of various colors that are a feast for the eyes. All around chestnut trees, one of which is also centuries old and the possibility of continuing on various paths departing from the village. Experience absolutely to be repeated, possibly in the summer for the flowering of hydrangeas.

Splendid and unique, a jewel in the middle of the forest full of hydrangeas in summer. You can get there from Castelluccio di Porretta by following the road signs almost to the village, but the road is unpaved with holes and stones and very steep in the final part (not recommended for cars that are too low). In addition, the parking lot near the village is tiny and it is a shame to get there by car. Better to park it first and arrive on foot following the signs. Alternatively, you can continue a little beyond the blue turning sign, park your car near the chestnut grove and continue on foot to the unmistakable sign of the Cai 147 path and then go up to the village (see photo below)
