Museum of the Risorgimento and Oberdan Memorial

The museum is located on the area where the imposing Austrian barracks was previously located, where on December 20, 1882 Guglielmo Oberdan was executed, accused of high treason and of having wanted to attempt the life of Emperor Franz Joseph. Here you can visit the original cell where Oberdan was held prisoner before being hanged. The museum holds letters, personal effects, pictures and portraits of Oberdan. You can also see documents, photographs, works of art and relics relating to facts and characters from the events of the Risorgimento, starting from the riots of 1848 until the end of the First World War, when Trieste returned to Italy. Admission is free and can be visited from Thursday to Sunday, from 10 am.
