A little known museum. Unparalleled treasures of antiquity. Incredible reconstructions of Egyptian faces ... Too much grace that even the entrance is free. At least 1 euro ... The value of this museum is inestimable.

Located on the hill of San Giusto, this museum is worth a visit for several reasons. The best known is the cenotaph of Winckelmann, father of modern archeology, murdered in Trieste and the large Egyptian collection. But if we pause for a moment, we are inside a fantastic museum, with prehistoric finds, a collection of Greek, Etruscan and Cypriot vases dating back 2000 years, even a section for the Maya. In addition, the museum is located inside a lapidary garden and you can access the beautiful garden. Ask the overseers to see the tunnel, a passage that leads to the basements of the cathedral. It is open only on request.

Very nice museum, and free offer. Definitely worth visiting together with the cathedral. It has tons of exhibits including two or three complete mummies. Worth a visit. Highly recommended

Very nice, well cared for and full of finds! It was a pleasant discovery climbing towards San Giusto.

Very beautiful and interesting, not very large but well stocked with finds, I recommend visiting the fortress nearby.
