This is a really great museum both inside and out. It can be accessed from the street or from the castle. Artfacts from many locations including Egypt and Europe. Many are local to Trieste from Roman, Habsburg, Austrian and Italian.
Very nice museum with great collection of ancient things
I have to qualify that my rating of this museum is very specific. As others have mentioned, the museum is small and the only information that I saw in the main part was in Italian (although, in the cenotaph area there was some information in English). But I had never seen a real Egyptian Mummy before, and for my first time to be so close, so uninterrupted, and so unexpected was really amazing. I was the only visitor inside the museum the entire time I was there and stayed for quite a long time as the were three very different Mummies. I was able to get really close to all the exhibits and stare to my heart's content. Don't miss the mummified crocodile head, which is on a lower level in the main room and easy to overlook. I didn't know about this museum in advance, I was visiting the church next door and when leaving I saw the 'free entry' sign in Italian and just wandered in off the street and am SO GLAD I DID. But again - it's small and very specific, so please set your expectations accordingly :)
Very good for a free museum. The Egypt stuff is very impressive. More English translation would be great.
Not huge but more than enough interesting stuff that can be viewed up close
Amazing museum to visit. I think many tourists miss this spot as it's down the hill with a sign just in Italian. There were only a few people there and nobody on the 2nd and 3rd level so I spent a couple hours reading and looking at everything on my own. Highly recommended!
