Warning: this place seems to have been abandoned. Booked a night online several weeks in advance. Arrived to find no signs of human life. Six(?) dark rooms with mattresses stacked on triple-bunk beds. If the above sounds like your ideal getaway, be aware that the road to get there is very long and cannot be accessed without a 4x4 (rivers of mud and literally thousands of enormous and mostly unavoidable potholes). Furthermore, Google Maps will direct you via one of two roads which, by the look of it, never existed at all (bushes and full-grown trees exist where the road is supposed to be).

This was an excellent trip. The cockpit country was more beautiful than we imagined. Ivor and Tall Man were excellent hosts. Ivor offered two hiking tours: one to a Taino carving at the Great Windsor Cave and another to abandoned British fort used during the Maroon Wars. We chose the first option and were not disappointing. We definitely plan to return and go on the second hike.

The Last Resort is perfect for a getaway from the city, escaping to rural rainforest. There is a natural spring on the property and ample opportunity to be at one with nature. There are plenty of fruits, birds, butterflies, turtles and wildlife to enjoy in the Cockpit Country. Great value for money. Ivor is a knowledgeable host who is keen to share his love of the area with others!

An obsolete base camp for archeologists, drinking water direct from a source and showering with collected rain water... Best...adventure...ever! Awesome place, stunning nature and two friendly guys!

Ivor was a fabulous host, taking care of us and giving us the full tour of both Falmouth and the Windsor Caves. The Last Resort is definitely not for the faint of heart and is not glamping, it's the real deal. Be prepared to get away from the world … and take your mosquito repellent and good hiking shoes!
