Best place for rafting

Place was beautiful , but the instuctor was absolutely terrible. He was rushy and nasty and didn't speak to us or tell us anything about the locations we were at . he also made or experience cringey by telling the locals that we were rude as we passed by them. If we weren't so deep in the river already I would of asked to get off. Don't think id ever go here again . I can't remember his name but I sure I got a pic or two of him . it sucks even more because the other people we were with who had a different instructor had an amazing experience.

Jungle River bamboo rafting was one of the most peaceful moments in my life this year. Some of the rafters talk too much. Because they are beautiful and warm Jamaicans, that's all. If you are fond of the sounds of nature you can tell them not to talk. However tips may be required...

Its about an hour drive up the mountain then a smooth 2 - 3 hour 14 foot bamboo raft down the river. Very romantic for couples.

We visited the Martha Brae River and did the rafting activity as part of a project with the Jamaica Tourist Board. It was the last activity we had on our 3-day itinerary and I couldn't have asked for a better way to bring my Jamaica tours to a close. After the hustle and bustle of the previous couple days, we arrived at the Martha Brae River around 9:00 am. It is located in Falmouth, about a 20-30 minute drive from our resort (Jewel Grande) in Mobay. We were the first visitors to arrive, so the area was quiet and very peaceful. We were greeted with a welcome drink at the bar and given a short performance by a friendly musician by the name of "Cool John." Honestly, he made our morning even brighter than it already was. We got on the first raft, with raft captain Gayle--who, by the way, is so friendly and quite informative. As we were there to take photos, we were so appreciative of his accommodating nature. He stopped when we needed to stop and would even advise us of upcoming photo spots. After getting the content we needed, we used the rest of the ride to relax and just be present. The river was empty and the waters were calm, which made the experience even better. There is an option to do a half-hour or 1-hour tour. Initially, we were going to do the half-hour tour but then didn't want it to end! So, we continued on down the river to get as much enjoyment out of the experience as we could. I definitely recommend the 1-hour tour, which honestly goes by so quickly anyway, and getting there as early as possible so you can really get to relax without having a million other tourists around you. Also, definitely bring your camera! There are vendors set up along the river, selling beer, snacks and other refreshments. We opted for Lemon Cold Stripe (so good!). I love supporting locals and local businesses. So I was pleased at the end to have the opportunity to buy some handcrafted items from my captain. There was no pressure either, so it wasn't your typical guilt trip to buy something you don't want. We later learned that aside from tips, this is one of the main sources of income for the raft captains, so try to be as generous as you can. Now not only do I have beautiful photos to remember this experience by, but a personalized and engraved calabash bowl. =D I couldn't have asked for a better time and definitely recommend adding this activity to your Jamaica to-do list!
