Sunspot Villa

Our large three generation family of 13 had the time of our lives in this oasis at Sunspot in Runaway Bay. 4 great bedrooms for adult couples and many others in which to stash the kids. We took the meal plan and never lifted a finger. Breakfast fruit salads and coffee under the pergola for the early birds, then full fare in the outdoor dining area for the sleep ins. The beach is perfect for children and families, but the real secret is the coral reef a short snorkel out from the strand, and a scuba dive shop a 5 minute walk to the west. The grounds are well maintained with flowers and fruiting trees. We played badminton on the beach side lawn. This property has a lot to say for itself and kept us busy during our one week stay. We felt safe at all times. The staff picked up on our request for a ten minute call before lunch, so we could round up children, shower off, and present for the meal. Early evening was the anticipated cocktail hour and dancing around the pool with our music playing on the villa sound system. We chose dinner in the formal inside dining room and the menu was always top notch, satisfying all, the height of the experience. Erica the hostess gave advice and arranged tours and transport to attractions within a couple of hours distance. There was an guided hike on foot up into the hills overlooking Cardiff. This villa is managed with a high level of class and spirit. Our family was sad to leave. We are sure to be back.

I'm a bit surprised by Ms. Flower's above review, as our group of 13 visited in Feb 2020, just before COVID-19 began to limit travel. We found the entire staff to be quite pleasing and the support staff went well beyond duty to ensure that my wife's 25th Anniversary would be forever cherished. I can see how someone might find Erica a bit challenging, as she was clearly professional first, then naturally more social after our party and driver (Orlando) earned her trust. If I were the owner, I would ask nothing less of my property manager. Once she warmed up to us, Erica was a joy, like the rest of the staff. The property was easily a 6 (out of 5 stars) -- beautifully manicured, clean, and enchanting. The staff was a 7, as I will never forget the surprise flower petal design left on our bed to celebrate our anniversary. They must have spent hours on this, while we sun bathed! I want Erica on my team and we will be returning once restrictions are lifted. Shout out to the most charming Mr. Wilson and the solid and respectful security team. They made us all feel at home! One star because I had to give a star in order to leave a review. When revisiting vacation spots i like to go to familiar places so i van truly relax and not be so concerned with my every move unfortunately this place i will NEVER return to. Everytime i think Jamaica i cringe as ive been on several occasions and this last time was anticipated and very necessary but terrible. The staff did their job very well. They were very mannerable,thorough,and accomodating. The propert manager,Erica(runaway bay), on the other hand was not welcoming. Erica was very rude with some statements and actions i.e. finding marijuana in a safe upon arrival we requested it to be removed and she implied that we brought it on the property; finding a trail of ants along the living room wall to the bedroom along with a plumbing issue upon arrival and she had the audacity to have an attitude when i requested it to be resolved;the dishwasher overflowed, mind you staff cleans up after each meal,she accused us of touching the dishwasher brought "her" dude in to look at it then called one of the staff members that live the closest and one of the first ones in the AM to come mop it up at midnight instead of doing it herself while she was already there. We requested the staff just prep a meal and contain it so they could get home at a decent hour one day because we were going out and weren't sure when we'd return, we got back to the house around nine or ten at night to staff just standing there waiting to serve us and we weren't even hungry, as we had been out all day. She stayed on the same property right outside my room the entire time. I dont like how she treated my family or how she treats the staff. Her attitude morning,noon, & night my entire visit was the same. A DARK cloud over a beach that doesn't move, imagine that. No smiles, no thank yous, no actual willingness to even check to make sure things were ok from day to day. Nothing luxurious about the stay also the beach is not private at all its a long strip shared by a whole resort,two neighboring homes and whoever feels like coming from the neighborhood on the side of the building...a had a VERY intoxicated local approach me one morning during meditation and had another local not seen him and intervened im not sure how it would've turned out. That was honestly the worst vacation Ive ever had in my life.
