Ogoto Onsen is a little bit far away from the station and there is no bus going there. There is a flip phone (all nostalgic but has the job done!) provided just at the exit for you to call them for pick up. Very convenient for foreign travllers. A very sweet gesture.

Understaffed - when we arrived around 5 pm on a Friday, there was only one person and he was serving another rider facing away from the gates. As a result, we had to wait 10 minutes just to flash our JR Passes. There's also infrequent service to Kyoto Station, so make sure you plan ahead.

This station, which is close to Lake Biwa, feels like a rural station in the Showa era, and I can't say it's flattering, but I personally liked the rural feel of the Showa era.

A small station with one ticket gate. Exit the ticket gate and turn left, you will find a roundabout with a taxi. The hotel shuttle bus will board. There was Family Mart nearby. There was a footbath, but it was small, and it was difficult to enter if there were people.
