It is said to be the oldest temple in Japan. Tsushima-shi tangible cultural property "birth-buddha" is kept. On November 24, 2014, five Korean men stolen 360 volumes of Birthday Buddha and Buddha Buddha (equivalent to about 110 million yen in total) from the custody of the temple. A police officer who was investigating was arrested for discovering the suspect at Ishihara Port in response to a report saying that the key of the cabinet was destroyed and the Buddha statue was stolen from the priest of Bairin. The outflow of cultural assets was prevented at the mercy. It was a case to cast serious doubt on the protection, preservation and management policy of Japanese cultural properties. In Tsushima, in addition to this, theft of cultural assets has been continuing from Kanonji temple, Higashinjin Shrine, Takuhiko Shinto shrine and others.

If Buddhism came from the continent, it means that Tsushima, which was closer to the Korean Peninsula than the mainland, had come earlier.
