If you're going to the Edo Tokyo Architectural Museum, take a little jog to the west (be careful crossing the street!) to this quiet little temple. Check out the thatched-roof gate and the garden where different flowers bloom throughout the year. A worthwhile -- and free -- side trip.

Zuiyunzan Kaiganji Temple. A temple of the Rinzai sect Myoshinji school. The principal image is the Holy Kannon Bodhisattva.

I worshiped on the way back from Tama Lake cycling. It was a very quiet temple.

As you step into the approach, you will see the thatched roof gate. Nostalgic memories of Yamadera Temple that you saw in the hometown of the father are revived. The total cypress and thatched mountain gate are unique buildings that are unprecedented in the neighborhood. It is said that this temple was built in 1736 by a farmer in Chichibu on the premise of Mt. You will feel refreshed when you are in a beautifully preserved precincts with large red pine trees with beautiful branches. Doji, who snuggled up to the hem of the Bodhisattva statue in the corner of the precincts, smiled wearing a kimono and a wool hat and smiled himself. Even so, where did the name of this temple, Kaiganji, come from?
