東山 Touzan

Overrated... plating was beautiful but food was very bland. Coursing was all over the place. We got 2 soups after the main course...? Spend your money on a different kaiseki!

Nice lunch experience with nice staff. Hyatt standard. Will come back with my husband next time.

Enjoyed my experience here. Big spacious dining room and polite wait staff. Had a seat by the open fire pit and it was quite warm but a great experience. The food was good but I thought the meat had a real gamey taste to it.

We really enjoyed Touzan. The ambiance was chic and cozy, drinks were excellent. Bar staff were world-class artisans at cocktail making. We ordered on and off menu; my favorite was their old fashioned. It came with more garnishes than I've ever seen on that simple of a drink (two twists, two slices, and a mint sprig), but somehow overall did not feel overdone; it was just nice, and the mint provided a fresh touch. The featured cocktails are good; they make nice use of a local gin made in Kyoto. The actual making of drinks was carried out with such art that I enjoyed watching the bar staff nearly as much as I enjoyed the drinks. Their skill with stirring and shaking is truly world class, and produces an amazing product.

Ridicusly expensive and the food... Meh. 5200 yen for a Tonny piece of rice with a fried pumpkin and some noodles
