Shosenji

This is not a place for tourists, but is a well-maintained temple from the 1600s with a variety of interesting plants and sculptures plus a small garden you can wander in free and undisturbed. It's not really easily accessible, so won't be on a must-see list, but worth some time if in the area.

It is a temple of the Rinsai sect Enkakuji school facing the Oume Kaido, and has a wonderful mountain gate. When I asked for a red stamp, he was willing to accept it, and he said that he was willing to go to the money box in the main hall.

In the Ogawaji precinct, there is a Koto tower of the 1st year of Kyoho, and the good-looking faces of Kongo, Samaru, and Nigori are worth a visit.

There is a magnificent statue of Nio at the gate, several Jizo statues line up in the precinct, and there is a magnificent main hall and graveyard. It is not a touristy temple.
