This is one of the temples keeping a treasure of a very rare sokushinbutsu mummy. Stunning. A nice old lady showed us around and explained. Fantastic.

Closed, no info about opening times. The info online says 830-430pm open most days but not true. Waste my time.

Visited for a visit to Sokushinbutsu, and several parking lots can be parked. There was a pair unexpectedly. It says "please press the chime", and when you press it, a woman will come from inside and guide you to the room saying "please go inside". Then, Sokushinbutsu is immediately in front of you! And the woman will explain in detail. The room is not that big. Various objects like Buddha statues were displayed on both sides. It was a stay of about 20 minutes in time. The charge was 400 yen. Shooting with a camera etc. is not possible. It was my first time to see Sokushinbutsu, so I was thrilled when I actually saw it. It seems that there are five other Sokushinbutsu in Tsuruoka City.

There is a main hall on the second floor. In the back of the first floor, the instant Buddha of the Iron Dragon Marine is enshrined. You can pay the entrance fee and ask for an explanation.

This is the only temple among the six immediate Buddhas in the Shonai region, where the instant Buddha of the Iron Dragon Maritime people set in the Meiji era is enshrined. At that time, it was illegal to excavate the corpse to make it an immediate Buddha, and to treat it for embalming, so it was said that its existence was concealed until the statute of limitations came into effect. The last real Buddha in Japan is located in Kanonji in Murakami, Niigata, not Shonai. In Shonai, two other bodies are enshrined at Dainichibo and Churenji in Yudenyama, one at a distance (all in Tsuruoka City), and at Kaikaiji in Sakata City. Immediate Buddha is not something that you can see at Yuminami-Yuyama, but this is a normal Danji-ji temple in Tsuruoka city, and the main hall has been rebuilt with reinforced concrete after the fire, so it lacks strictness. The temples in the city are the same as Kannonji in Murakami, and the reinforced concrete is the same as the storage in Kaikai-ji, but if you have two, I feel like it is something. There is also a worshiper of a woman who was praised as a living god by a Meiji era psychic in the precincts of Nangaku-ji Temple, but if she manages with her psychic powers she will go through an extraordinary penance and become an instant Buddha. I do not think that. Of the temples where the immediate Buddha is enshrined, access by public transportation is relatively convenient along with Haikoji and Kannonji, but we do not recommend it. If you are a beginner of instant buddha, it is better to visit Kaikai-ji Temple, where comprehensive commentary is available.
