典型的な通勤の駅 Typical commuter railway station For the railway buffs: Katahama Station was opened on March 21, 1987,[1] the last train station to be built by the Japanese National Railways (JNR) before its privatization. With the privatization of JNR on 1 April 1987, the station came under the control of JR East. The station has two opposing side platforms serving two tracks, with the station building built on the overpass connecting the platforms. The station building has automated ticket machines, TOICA automated turnstiles, and a “Midori no Madoguchi” staffed ticket office.

It is a quiet station on the Tokaido Line.

At the station next to Numazu Station, it has a quieter atmosphere than Numazu Station.

There was a driving school right in front of the station, but it seems to have disappeared without a trace.
