I went into the emergency ward of the hospital ready to kill myself on a Saturday around 5pm because my life sucks that bad and I have depression that is sometimes very severe. The main hospital is closed on weekends, but I assumed suicidal thoughts (particularly extreme ones) would be an emergency that would qualify me for ER support. All I wanted was an anti anxiety treatment to slow my racing negative thoughts down, and I only came to this hospital after exhausting all other possibilities (mental health clinics etc.)
The staff was dismissive from the start, and made me reveal personal information in front of other patients who were there. An elderly man (who is likely underpaid) behind the window told me to sit in the corner and wait... someone who seemed to be part of management in a disheveled suit came and explained they don't have mental health professionals available in the ER, and then paused, saying nothing and staring at me with his arms crossed... I asked him what I should do, and he said "wait here", left, brought back a piece of paper with a phone number and said call this before leaving again very quickly. I called the number and asked the woman on the other line (for what I'm assuming was an emergency center for mental health, they didn't tell me) where the hospital was and that I would take a taxi to get there; she refused to give me and address and no matter what I said, told me to call 110, the police. Having dealt with the police as a foreigner in Yokohama, I knew better than to call them, as they usually make situations worse, particularly situations that involve foreigners under duress. I crumpled up the paper, thanked them for their time and shuffled out of the ER. Nobody tried to stop me as I stood out front in the rain, paralyzed by depression, for 3 hours as my mind raced itself to exhaustion, then I walked home.
Part of my reason for wanting to kill myself was that I felt nobody cares about anyone else and that the world is selfishly ripping each other off constantly, that the world is a heartless place which cares only about extracting money... this hospital proved me right. Fortunately I have good friends and family that realized what was going on and kept talking to me and more or less saved my life, the world isn't all bad, just most of it and the treatment I received there was outrageous and inhumane, at best.
A large hospital in the Yokohama Koganecho area.
Again, it ain't Tokyo or Kyoto University but as a university hospital, I think you can trust it. I'm saying as a medical doctor, there are several reasons to this, but when a hospital is university-based, the physicians will be on a payroll, meaning their generation of income won't influence their salary too much, so they are more likely to 'play by the rules' and work along the 'evidence-based' medicine.
Also, being a university hospital means the physicians are mostly professors, fellows or residents, meaning that they are always joining seminars and studying new information to keep up with their field and publish new papers.
Of course, being in an academic institute means being busy and always working with state-of-the-art medicine, so you can't expect the same level of cordiality as a PCP(primary care physician). It's up to you, really... if you don't have a life-threatening condition the PCP's generally know well enough what to do. But there are cases when you are much better off seeing a stuck-up but astute medical school professor.
It's clean and staff is very friendly. On the other hand, the building looks old and it needs an extensive renewal.
I went to this hospital last October and received a letter from a lawyer regarding "debt collection" that the medical examination fee of 1210 yen at that time was unpaid.
By then, I haven't received any invoices from the hospital and I can't understand how to go through a lawyer.
When I contacted the hospital about that, it seems that there was a history of my deposit with an automatic checkout machine at the time of my visit in October, and the mysterious 1210 yen that is a bond was recorded by the other side at the time of my accounting. The fact is that it wasn't there. The amount paid by the automatic payment machine in October was an additional amount when he visited the hospital in September (this is also unclear), and it seems that the medical examination amount on the day that was not included in the payment at the time of payment was treated as unpaid.
Although the content clearly seems to be a mistake over there, I did not investigate it properly, I did not receive a reminder, and I went through a lawyer a year later, which is beyond the scope of understanding.
In the end, I didn't have to pay the 1210 yen.
There was no particular apology, and I just apologized from the person who responded to the complaint.
This is the level I want to appeal to.
It's the worst.
Used for childbirth. Famous as a destination for high-risk pregnant women near Yokohama City.
Pregnant women with advanced maternal age, pregnant women with twins, pregnant women with chronic diseases, pregnant women who had problems during the previous birth, problems with the fetus, etc.
Location There are many Asian pregnant women, and a quarter of them were foreigners when they were hospitalized after giving birth.
It seems that foreigners are kind enough to have an interpreter when they go to the hospital.
Since it is public, the cost of delivery is low. Except for high risk, the frame will be filled quickly, so make a reservation early.
Since it is a general hospital, even though it is a reservation system, you have to wait for medical examination and accounting every time.
Since you cannot choose a private room, it is a large room forcibly. You should be prepared to not sleep during hospitalization because there are frequent patrols (loud) every few hours even in the same room with the mother and child immediately after childbirth and at midnight, and breastfeeding instruction given to the next mother through the curtain overnight.
A baby-friendly hospital such as kangaroo care and breastfeeding.
It is basically a natural childbirth. You can't choose painless.
Since there is thorough breastfeeding guidance during hospitalization after childbirth, mothers who are thinking about giving breast milk before giving birth will probably be a gorigori breastfeeding believer at the time of discharge.
On the other hand, it may be a painful hospital for people who do not have breast milk, who want to rest their bodies, so it is difficult to breastfeed, and for those who do not think about breastfeeding because they want to leave it at a nursery school and work immediately. I saw a mother who was hit cold.
There are three mother classes. It is compulsory. I can't skip. If you skip it, it will be sent to the next date. If you are still working, let's take a rest. I bought a book, but I felt it was meaningless to go because it only explained what I could understand if I read it at home. Also, a small group was formed and I just met my husband and I was made to talk about breast milk with a stuffed toy in one hand ... To be honest, it was unpleasant. It may be good for people who want to talk a lot.
I wrote a lot, but it is a good hospital that is polite and reassuring.
