This shrine is mainly popular for one specific thing: hydrangea. During the peak season, you have hundreds of different varieties and different colours suddenly blooming at the same time. This place is a must see.

It is said that the temple of the Tendai sect, whose mountain name is Mt. Has been done. In the precincts, when Mitsuko Mito visited the mountain, he wrote "Blooming the red plums of Nihonmatsuji", "The Song of Mitsuko Mito", and in 1691, Mitsuko Mito rebuilt the main hall and contributed. The memorial tree "Nihonmatsuji Maki", which is said to have been hand-planted at the time of the event and is designated as a cultural property (natural memorial) of Itako City, and "Wooden Yakushi Nyorai-za statue and both sides" designated as a cultural property (sculpture) of Ibaraki Prefecture. There are "Samurai Statue" and "Hubotan Crest Makie Set Bowl" designated as a cultural property (crafts) of Itako City. There is also a large parking lot and toilet.

It is a wonderful temple with a long history. When you visit during the beautiful season of hydrangea, you will be overwhelmed by the sight of the entire mountain filled with fancy colored jewelery. This is a garden with so much effort placed on the slopes with different elevations, so please take a look at its beautiful scenery with manners. When I visited, there was a person who occupies the same place for a long time and made flowers by hand, but this is a temple. This is the place where the Buddha can live. Have fun and share this beauty with other visitors with a little concern.

The priest was very human and took care of his mother's funeral.

I went to see the hydrangea. Various kinds of hydrangeas were in bloom, and I was surprised at the richness. I was able to know that the hydrangeas I had seen so far were only a few varieties. Of course the hydrangea was beautiful!
