Shiraitodai bunker is one of the few structures that remain today from WWII Chofu air base. The structure is protected by a fence. It was located in the western part of the base. It is likely it protected Ki-100 as well as Ki-61 aircraft from the 244 sentai, Imperial Japanese Army Air Force. Their mission wasto protect Tokyo and also the nearby Nakajima factories.
A small piece of interesting history
Suddenly appearing in a residential area ❗️. The height inside the site is about 2 meters. There is no reason for Hien to enter at this height. It seems that it was actually about 4 meters high. Two meters should have been filled to prevent rainwater from collecting. Did he take off from Chofu Airport and meet the B-29?
If you go to Kitasuna, Koto-ku, you will find the War Damage Information Center. The story of an old woman who crashed in Tachikawa after being bombarded by a parachute and was saved by a parachute was killed by the common people, and finally screamed and beaten, "My son's death!"
For those who want to know about Hien, let's go to Kakamigahara Aerospace Museum, the hometown of Hien.
The picture of ps / Hien and the picture of the miniature Hien are the pictures of Osawa No. 1. Make no mistake.
There is a hidden place to put the Zero Fighter plane.
A war relic that quietly exists in an inconspicuous place surrounded by a residential area and Route 20.
It's a bit far from Chofu Airfield, but I think it's a pain to think that person hid such an important fighter.
It is surrounded by a fence and cannot be put in, but it smells of moist air in a cave that is not wide.
Other than this, there are two metropolitan parks near the airfield, and another one that is privately owned (so I can't approach it, but I can see it). There seemed to be more in the past. It's a sense of distance that you can walk and see everything.
