日徳山 昌東院

It is a temple of the Rinzai sect Myosinji school located in Komashinjo Komata, Akita city. It is said to have been built during the Azuchi-Momoyama period (1576-1600) and was originally a Tendai sect temple. Gohonson is the 18th bill of St. Kannon Bodhisattva, the Sanju Kannon Sacred Ground of Akita. The grounds are well-maintained, and the especially well-maintained rock gardens are hard to find in Akita.
