Izakaya Toyo

Fun show, fun times, food good, not amazing, but I guess a bit higher quality than normal izakayas.. It is hard not to meet new people there since it's all standing tables and you share the table with other people.. it is definitely a fun experience.. recommended place to try if you're in the area.. by the way, the old man who you probably saw on Netflix isn't there anymore.. there is a younger guy doing his work instead

Seeing how happy Toyo-san is while he's working is very inspiring. The food is amazing. It might not be the easiest to find, but definitely worth it. Can't wait to go back. They serve cold oolong tea for those of you who doesn't drink.

This place has energy, charm and Character! The food was so good and the vibe made you stay and keep eating.

I had the great privilege to eat at Izakaya Toyo pre-covid in early 2020 and it literally blew me away. More than just a meal, but a grounds for locals and travelers alike to experience the master himself at work. From the no frills, simply fresh & delicious cuts of fish to the flamethrower scorched hamachi cheek, I found myself fully indulging. Not only was the food amazing, but Mr. Toyo himself was the sweetest man who took pride in his craft. It's no wonder why he had his own segment on Street Food on Netflix. I will definitely hold this experience as one of the best meals of 2020 if not ever.

Good place for go in lunch time. Fresh sashimi and delicious tuna cheeks ( is a must ). Toyo is a character very friendly with foreigners.
