The First of Asakusa⋯The Beginning from Sensoji Temple(淺草寺)⋯
Little and beutifull buddhist temple
Komagata-do is built beside the Komagata Bridge over the Sumida River. In the 36th year of Empress Suiko (628), the Holy Kanzeon Bosatsu, the principal image of Sensoji Temple, was shown on the Miyato River (Sumidagawa), and it is said that it landed there and was enshrined in the Kusado.
In other words, it is a temple built in the sacred place where Sensoji Temple originated. There are various theories about the origin of the name of Komagatado, but the late priest Amino Yasutoshi, the chief priest of Sensoji Temple, said, "Since the land of Komagatado is the landing site of the Kanzeon Bosatsu, it is necessary to protect the fish that live in the Sumida River. I feel that the name comes from the fact that people worshiped Hayagriva, the guardian Buddha of living things, and dedicated horse-shaped artifacts as a thank-you for the fulfillment of their wishes. "
Komagatado is said to have been built by Komasa Taira in the 5th year of Tengyo (942). In the Edo period, there was a dock right in front of Komagatado, and people who landed from here first worshiped the principal image of Komagatado and then visited Sensoji Temple. At first, the front of Dou was facing the river, but with the times, the river has come to be the back. The current Dou was rebuilt in 2003. The fair is on the 19th of every month, and the principal image is opened and the memorial service is held. Especially on April 19th, an annual festival is held.
