A temple of the Nichiren sect founded in the Northern and Southern Dynasties. The mountain number is Kanouzan and the principal image is Shaka Nyorai. The main hall was rebuilt in 1950. There are stone statues and preserved trees in the precincts, such as the title tower and the medieval slab tower. In addition, it has a statue of Kishimojin and a statue of Jurajyojo, which are No. 9 cultural assets designated by Nagareyama City. Kishimogami is a goddess who is taught in Buddhist narratives, and gave birth to many children, but kills and eats the children of others, so the Buddha becomes a guardian deity who reminds him of this and devote himself to Buddhism. It has been worshiped as a child-rearing god since ancient times, but it is especially worshiped in the Nichiren sect as a guardian of the Hokkei Sutra along with the Jura Shrine Maiden. The statue is 20 to 30 centimeters high and is beautifully colored (supplementary). From the inscription on the back of the pedestal, it was found that it was repaired in 1480, and it is thought that it was built before that. It was originally from Kogane Hondo Temple, but is believed to have been moved to Honkakuji Temple. It is a good and calm temple on a hill. The main hall is old and splendid, but the stairs, etc. are new and easy to visit.
