Nestled in a forest and surrounded by waterfalls I highly recommend a visit if you are in need of some zen and tranquility.. Don't forget your goshuincho It's a bit of a walk from Central Hiroshima but there is a a bus or you can get close using the tram line..

My absolute favourite place we visited in all of Japan. I cannot emphasis enough how special this sacred area is... Don't be put off by the walk from the station to the hill, there's a bus if you can't walk it. You simply have to go to appreciate the temples and gardens.

A scenic Buddhist temple + hiking trail out back. There are many buildings and structures to see, and there is a small eatery as well that serves noodles, mochi, and shaved ice. There is also a small souvenir shack. Obviously dress modestly because you are visiting a sacred temple, but if you plan to go hiking, you need to dress appropriately for that as well. Honestly it took about an hour to reach the summit, but only about 20 minutes on the descent. It's a nice place to go during the day. We got there at 11:20 am and left around 3pm, including meandering through all the paths, hiking, chilling at the top, and eating at the small eatery.

Absolutely gorgeous location! Note that the mountains will block sunlight if you get there much after 15:00. Not really a bad thing as it gives a pseudo dusk vibe to the place. Wonderful little Buddhist temple located 3/4 of the way up. Take a moment to kick your shoes off and meditate. The sound of running water is never far as there are multiple waterfalls. If you're looking for a peaceful escape from the bustle of Hiroshima, this is it! Only negatives I can muster is that it is a bit of a train ride from just about anywhere in Hiroshima then you have to hike about 10-15 minutes just to get there. Small children will have it rough. It is still a great escape for adults though.

Went here for the Autumn Foliage, it's so relaxing and peaceful.
