Friendly station staff speaks to the waiting time. At first I was perplexed, but when I met several times I remembered my face and I felt the warmth of the Kumamoto people. Although it is often unmanned at night, it is fun somewhere that only Sugoka machines are running. There are gas stations, Family Mart and Seven Eleven around. The walkway on the Family Mart side (roadside belt) is a bit narrow, so you have to be cautious. It is an image that people from foreign countries are often used because foreign student dormitory of Kumamoto University is near. Sometimes I am jealous of a high school student couple who seems to be on good breath in a sad memorable bench in the building that makes me feel a little history.

It is the nearest station for climbing Mt. Tateda. There is Seven-Eleven within a few minutes of exiting the ticket gate. The trail is a steep slope.
