Kamikura Shrine

The climb is not for the faint of heart. It is not a long climb, only 15 minutes. May be 20 at most. But it is very steep. Not for children.

A beautiful, great view shrine. The stone stairway is so steep so be careful. The approach to the shrine takes 15 to 20 minutes. You can feel quiet and sacred moment through the walking/hiking.

If you are searching for the Kumano Kodo stamp book #23 (Kamikura Shrine), the ink and stamp are located on the steps of the building to the right of the first bridge you cross to enter the property (opposite the stairwell up to the main shrine). The stamp is available even if no staff are present.

The steep and uneven stone steps is rewarded with a killer view of Shingu, and this shrine has a sense of tranquil and serenity to it. Even the steep and stony steps spells beauty.

This is a nice shrine; very small but at a great location. The stone stairs are very steep and it might be dangerous when it's raining and they get slippery. However, I doubt the official given number of stairs. Careful: google maps guides walkers to a place directly below the shrine, but not to the entrance where the staircase starts.
