If you are trekking in the area you can leave bags here for up-to 4 days in the coin lockers. Pay for the first day when you put your bags in, and pay again when you retrieve them. All local shops can change your notes for 100 yen coins.

Station staff were extremely helpful. The Village of Hakuba and taxi drivers are taking advantage of tourists. No bus or shuttle at 16:45 on a Friday (March 4) during the ski season - taxi costs $40 USD for 3.5 mile ride with no other option.

A relatively small station with helpful staff (speak English quite well), a small kiosk where you may buy snacks and a small seating area. Both platform 1 and 2 are undercover, which provide great cover in the bad weather. The station is very close to Happo-One snow resort. You may take a bus or taxi, with taxis costing between 1200 to 1300 yen for two people.
