DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL! RACIST AND DISRESPECTFUL STAFF! This hospital showed me one of the most horrible and overt acts of racism I have experienced in my life. I seriously injured my leg, and I was DENIED treatment at Kuroki because I was "a doctor-shopping foreigner that was faking an injury for pain medicine." I am a university lecturer, and this injury was my first experience with the hospital system here in Japan. I had previously been to two hospitals for my leg injury, initially the ambulance took me to Shin Beppu Hospital, and a few days after my injury I developed a 39.5 C fever and went to Tsurumi medical center because they were recommended to me by a friend because they had a translator. I'd been having additional bruising, muscle spasms and cramps, and I became worried that either something wasn't healing properly or I had a blood clot. I arranged for a Japanese colleague of mine to translate for me, and she had heard that Kuroki was a good, new-ish hospital. When we arrived, we filled out forms for the hospital, and prior to getting to see a doctor, at the reception area, a man came and told my colleague that I was a doctor-shopping foreigner that was faking my injury for pain medication. He said this at the reception area in front of staff and other patients at the hospital! I was refused admission to the hospital without seeing a doctor.
