Kerama Airport (KJP)

This airport is extremely beneficial for these islands when the boats are not running due to strong winds/waves. Our party of four utilized it with a helicopter (not a fixed wing plane) and did not have to wait a day for the weather to improve.

This small island is practically just an airport! Kerama / Zamami area is great to explore. Easy to reach by air from Naha or alternatively by slow or fast ferries (90 or 50 mins from Naha to Zamami). Zamami to Aka boats are frequent and take 15 mins. Aka is connected to another small island of Geruma by bridge and Geruma similarly to Fukaji island (where the airport is).

Even though it is an airport, it feels very quiet and feels a different space. There seems to be staff in the office. I would like you to visit the Outer Observatory, which goes from the entrance by the airport. 360-degree superb view! It is also a whale observatory
